The conference started on May 5th, 2026, with a welcome teatime at the Tee-Handels-Kontor Bremen (Domshof), and a guided city tour exploring the UNESCO heritage and the old town of Bremen. On May 6th, 2026, the conferences’ presentations were held at the campus Bremen of SRH University, incl. online contributions (Some of the topics: Tea Trade Kenya, Tea Heritage South Korea, Tea Porcelain between Europe and Asia, Tea as an instrument of retention management, “tea on the moon”, UNESCO world heritage).
On May 7th, 2026 the participants traveled to Emden and Leer, explored the tea cities of East Frisia incl. trips to THIELE TEE and BÜNTING TEE. May 8th, 2026 was dedicated to the East Frisian Tea Museum in Norden and additional presentations were held in the historic museum’s environment. On May 9th, 2026, after breakfast, the farewell tea was offered in Emden, from where the participants traveled back to Bremen or to other cities.
In total, 26 contributions were presented, and nearly 40 tea addicted experts from all over the world, e.g. South Korea, Slovenia, Hungary, Ireland, UK, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, US, Netherlands, attended the 2nd European Tea Culture Conference.
And, as an essential part of the conference, a new tea book was launched successfully: Bohne, H. (2026). The Cultural Tea Heritage of Bremen and East Frisia. Kellner-Verlag: The cultural heritage of tea in Bremen and East Frisia
